MUN Refugee Challenge hosted by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

Over 80 million people worldwide have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, violence, and persecution. UNHCR believes that young people play a critical role in determining how to help them thrive. WVDMUN is a proud supporter of the MUNRefugeeChallenge! It is hosted by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The global refugee population is steadily increasing, and each year, more people are forced to flee their homes due to ongoing conflict. At WVDMUN, we want to empower our delegates to find solutions and measures that will help refugees thrive and have a better quality of life, not just survive.

“We urgently call on
governments to boost their
resettlement programs this
year, offer more places,
expedite the processing of
cases and help us save lives of
those most in need and at
greatest risk”
— UNHCR’s Assistant High
Commissioner for Protection,
Gillian Triggs.
Nobody wants to spend their entire life as a refugee. Being a refugee should not be a permanent situation. Refugees must be given the opportunity to rebuild their lives as citizens. This is why it is critical to advocate for “long-term solutions” for refugees.
We are honored to have been a part of this challenge, and we hope that some of these ideas will be implemented to assist refugees around the world.
